PRACTICE HISTORY

Maldent was established by Dr Michael Wieder in 1985, taking over the existing dental surgery located at 34 Malden Road. In his time as principal dentist of the practice, Dr Michael has overseen several renovations of the practice, including expanding from a single surgery suite, to 5 bustling surgeries.

A key component of Maldent’s success has been modernising with the times, and keeping up to date with the latest dental developments. Dr Michael has been providing dental implants for almost 20 years, and the practice is fully digital. We have most recently introduced the latest intra-oral scanner, which serves to take ‘digital impressions’ of teeth, improving patient comfort and allowing crowns, veneers and aligners to be made without the gooey impressions!

As a testament to our quality service and best practice, we are proud to be certified as a British Dental Association Good Practice. Our most recent CQC report took place in July 2021, and we are proud to have passed with flying colours!

The practice has also been a Foundation Training practice for a number of years, with Dr Michael and our associate, Dr Rubi Ahmed, providing training to newly qualified dentists out of university.

As well as atesting to the skills of the trainers, a thorough practice inspection and verification process takes place, to ensure we are operating to the safest and highest standards.

We are proud to have our long standing associate Dr Rubi Ahmed at the practice, who has continued at Maldent since completing her Foundation Training in 2005. Dr Rubi has developed a special interest in Endodontics, completing a Postgraduate Diploma from UCLH, and particularly enjoys complex Root Canal Treatments and retreatments!

Dr Michael’s son, Dr Alan Wieder started working at the practice in 2019, and has recently joined Dr Michael in running and developing the practice. Dr Alan has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, and complex restorative dentistry, having completed his Masters Degree from University of Birmingham, and further cosmetic courses. Alan will leave no stone unturned in providing the highest quality of dentistry, to produce outstanding aesthetic results.

Our practice receptionists and nurses are all well known throughout our patient community, and are extremely experienced at providing you with a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

We are a member of Collaborate Dental Group, and our Practice Manager is Mr Ross Lovick.
